RAAC - Residents Awareness Association of Coimbatore
Let’s create a peaceful, healthy living environment together!
Many households in the rural belt of Coimbatore do not have access to power since their security deposit has to be paid to TNEB. RAAC stepped in after a request from Local administration to cover 41 houses in Pachinampathi near alanthurai in first phase and an average of Rs.5,500/- was sought including service charges. 31 houses have now been given security deposit and they have paid TNEB. Thanks to generous donors like Small differences, Restoring Nature and Dr. Anandhi Arul for their support. In second phase 29 more houses in Moongilmadai Village have to be covered and RAAC is in talks with Visteon for Sponsorship and the project will be completed in due course.
Two tribal hamlets (66 houses) were without power for many years. Finally electricity was given to the houses but the inmates found it difficult to even pay security deposit of around Rs. 5,500 for each hamlet. On Collector’s request RAAC teamed with a few sponsors and about 19 houses have already got power. The balance 47 houses will also see power being given very soon since the funding has been arranged.
