The District Administration has taken a significant step towards environmental conservation and water resource management with the proposal of the “Lake Rejuvenation Activity” under the “Athikadavau Scheme.” This initiative aims to revitalize and restore the Athikadavau Lake, an important water body in the region, to its former glory and ensure the sustainable availability of water.

In order to finance this ambitious project, RAAC secured a substantial amount of Rs. 20 lakhs. This funding was made possible through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds generously provided by M/s. Eppinger, a socially responsible corporate entity that recognizes the importance of preserving natural resources and contributing to the betterment of local communities. The CSR funds from M/s. Eppinger have played a pivotal role in supporting the lake rejuvenation project, emphasizing their commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.

As of now, the work on the lake rejuvenation project is well underway, signifying progress and dedication in achieving the desired goals. The execution of the scheme involves a multi-faceted approach that includes water quality improvement, desilting, afforestation, and the implementation of sustainable water management practices. The successful completion of the Athikadavau Scheme will have far-reaching positive impacts on the local ecosystem, biodiversity, and the overall well-being of communities dependent on the lake for their water needs. The restored lake will not only serve as a vital water source but also as a recreational and cultural space, attracting visitors and fostering a sense of pride and responsibility among the residents.

In conclusion, the collaboration between RAAC and Kowsika Neer Karangal and M/s. Eppinger in implementing the Lake Rejuvenation Activity as part of the Athikadavau Scheme showcases a model for public-private partnerships dedicated to environmental conservation. In response to the pressing need for rejuvenating a lake and implementing the Athikadavu Scheme water in the district, the local administration devised a strategic plan to take action. Understanding the importance of this initiative, M/s. Propel Industries, a socially responsible company, stepped forward and played a significant role in making this project a reality. Through their generous contribution of Rs.4 lakhs, they demonstrated their commitment to the welfare of the community and the environment.

The lake rejuvenation activity aimed to address multiple issues in the region, such as water scarcity, groundwater recharge, and improving the overall ecological balance. By implementing the Athikadavu Scheme water, the district could harness excess water during monsoon seasons and utilize it effectively during dry periods, thereby mitigating the impact of droughts and water shortages. M/s. Propel Industries’ contribution was not just financial but also extended to active participation and collaboration with the district administration and local community members. RAAC and Kowsika Neer Karangal implemented the scheme and their expertise in environmental conservation and water management played a crucial role in streamlining the rejuvenation efforts.

Moreover, the success of this project acted as a catalyst for similar initiatives in other parts of the district, inspiring more corporate entities and individuals to join hands in contributing to environmental conservation and sustainable development. In conclusion, the lake rejuvenation activity, made possible RAAC’s initiative and M/s. Propel Industries’ generous contribution, has had a lasting and positive impact on the community and environment alike. It stands as a testament to the power of collaboration between the public and private sectors in addressing crucial environmental issues and fostering a better future for generations to come.
